HOME LOCATION
THE HISTORIC AUSTRALIAN HOLIDAY

Roseneath Station lies 70km west of Tenterfield on the Dumaresq River which forms part of the border between New South Wales and Queensland. An historic property of 6,500 acres it was once the home of the Bruxner family (hence Bruxner Highway).

On returning from World War I Lt. Colonel Sir Michael Bruxner, (later Member of Parliament and Deputy Premier of New South Wales) purchased Roseneath Station and ran it in conjuction with his manager Mr William Hooper from approx. 1917 to 1952. The property was originally around 20,000 acres with much of it being rich river flats growing lucerne and other fodder. In the early 1920's - 1950's the property ran predominantly sheep along with Hereford cattle. At this time Lt. Colonel Bruxner also bred Clydesdale and Thoroughbred horses. The station at one time broke in large numbers of horses as remounts for the Indian Army.

These days Roseneath deals mainly with cattle and some sheep, but still remains true to it’s heritage and enjoys the Australian country lifestyle.
